DEPARTMENT OF OCCUPATIONAL HYGIENE

TASKS

1.            Investigating the risks of the workplace environment in terms of health and safety, developing methods and strategies in this respect and measuring of physical exposures such as noise, vibration, thermal comfort conditions, dust performed within the scope of ISGUM services,

2.            Preparation and execution of the projects related to the department.

3.            Investigating the risks that the workplace environment poses in terms of health and safety, measuring the exposure of various chemicals, and developing methods and strategies for this.

4.            To prepare data for workplace measurements by carrying out scientific and technical researches on dangerous goods, semi-finished products and raw materials used in different industries.

5.            To prepare and implement the application programs by carrying out scientific and technical researches related to the prevention of the formation of dangerous environments as a result of the investigation and research conducted at the work places,

6.            To carry out analytical procedures for the import of certain chemicals which affect the health and safety of work.

SERVICES

  1. Investigation of national / international standards and methods for measuring and analyzing physical factors affecting the health of workers in the workplace and strive to put these into practice and to enhance these methods and standards further,

  2. Measurement and analysis of physical factors in workplace environment,

  3. Providing all the documentation and to do all kinds of evaluation studies required for the implementation of the laboratory quality system (ISO 17025),

  4. Providing technical information support for the purchasing of equipment and consumables required for measurement and analysis operations,

  5. Providing technical information support to private / public institutions and organizations in the field of occupational health and safety,

  6. Contribution to national / international seminars, technical support programs, conferences, activities etc. in the field of occupational health and safety,

  7. Conducting researches in different sectors and broadcasting the results as poster or presentation at the events such as seminars etc.,

  8. Participating in legislative work in the field of occupational health and safety,

  9. Applying for EU service and supply projects and taking part in the execution of approved projects.

  10. Investigating and implementing national and international standards and methods for the measurement and analysis of chemical factors in the workplace ambient air, and developing these methods.

  11. Development of new method studies to increase the detection diversity of chemical factors in the workplace environment.

  12. Measurement of chemical factors in workplace ambient air.

  13. Analyzing the chemical agent samples taken from the workplace ambient air for analysis in the laboratory and analyzing them with analyzers in laboratories.

  14. All the documentation, analysis and all kinds of evaluation studies required for the implementation of the laboratory quality system (TS EN ISO / IEC 17025).

  15. Provision of technical information to the purchases of equipment, chemical and consumables required for measurement and analysis.

  16. Providing technical information support in the field of occupational health and safety.

  17. Contribution to activities such as national and international seminars, technical support programs, conferences in the field of occupational hygiene.

  18. In the field of occupational hygiene, researching in different sectors and publishing them in events such as seminars (presentation-poster-declaration).10. Participate in the legislative work of the unit in the field of occupational health and safety.

  19. To undertake service and supply project applications within the scope of the EU projects and to take part in the execution of the approved projects.
